Recipe - Mangalorean Fish Curry

Cook like a pro with Chef Kunal Kapur

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg Mackerel or catfish
  • Turmeric powder
  • 1 cup onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp ginger (grated)
  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp mustard seed
  • 1/2 tsp Carom seed
  • 4 tbsp Kundapur Masala
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 4 green chilies
  • 2 sprig curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp Happy Grove Coconut Oil
  • 1 tsp Tamarind pulp
  • 1/2 tsp jaggery
  • 1/2 cup fresh coconut (grated)

Directions

  1. Marinate fish with salt and turmeric powder for 15 minutes.
  2. Make a fine paste of coconut, 1/4 cup of onion, 4 tbsp of kundapur masala, garlic, chili powder,coconut ,jaggery, and tamarind pulp.
  3. In a pan heat coconut oil. Add mustard seed, Carom seed. Add 3/4 cup of chopped onion, curry leaves. Fry onions till they are translucent.
  4. Add ground masala paste add water Cook on medium flame.
  5. When it starts to boil add fish slices, grated ginger and silted green chilies.
  6. Cook for 5 minutes and serve hot.
