Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large sprigs fresh mint (about 12 leaves)

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium-high, heat water until boiling.

  2. Add sugar and stir until dissolved.

  3. Reduce heat to low, add mint and cook 1 minute.

  4. Remove from heat and let cool 2 hours. Remove mint leaves.

  5. Place in an airtight container and refrigerate. Add to coffee or tea with half and half, if desired.

Makes: 1 cup

Test Kitchen Tip: Save your simple syrup by freezing it! Pour your simple syrup into an ice cube tray and put it in the freezer. Pop a mint simple syrup ice cube out when you are ready to use it and let it thaw. Use it in your recipes as needed.
